Breast Reduction with Dr. Pichit Siriwan
If the size of your breasts is causing you physical discomfort and restricting your activities then you may be a good candidate for breast reduction. If you intend to breast feed, breast reduction is not recommended. It is important that you are healthy, emotionally stable and have realistic expectations about the outcome as well as well aware of scar and risks from surgery.
However, Breast Reduction can also be performed on men who afflicted by gynecomastia as well. The procedure is called “Male Breast Reduction”.
What is Breast Reduction?
Breast reduction or “Reduction Mammoplasty” can help relieve you from a variety of medical problems caused by the excessive weight of very large breasts, including back and neck pain, skin irritation, skeletal deformities and breathing problems.
Breast Reduction surgery involves the reduction in size of breasts by remove excess breast fat, glandular tissue and skin to achieve a breast size in proportion to the rest of your body and to alleviate the discomfort associated with overly large breasts. It may also involve a procedure to counteract drooping of the breasts. You can expect smaller, lighter and firmer breasts.
What are the expectations?
Breast Reduction surgery takes approximately 3.5 to 5 hours to perform depending on individual and how extensive the procedure is. You will be under general anesthesia.
The most common technique involves an anchor-shaped incision around the areola extending downward following the natural curve of the crease beneath your breast. Dr. Pichit Siriwan will remove the excess tissue, fat and skin and move the nipple and areola into their new position. He then brings the skin from both sides of the breast down and shapes the new contour of the breast.
The scar is located around the areola, in a vertical line extending downwards from the nipples area along the lower crease of the breast. Scars often remain lumpy and red for months, after which they gradually become less obvious and will fade significantly over 12 -18 months into thin white lines. However, this also depends on individual.
How you plan for your Breast Reduction ?
You should arrive at least 1 day in Thailand before your consultation day. Next day is your consultation and surgery day. You will be discussing about your expectations and all questions with Dr. Pichit Siriwan before surgery so make sure that you have clear all questions you have. You may do some sightseeing during your recovery time but not too much or too stressful. You are advised to rest well and listen to your body. You are expecting bruising and swollen but that shall be disappeared within a few weeks depending on how well and how fast your body can recover. It is very important that you must stop smoking and drinking 14 days before and after surgery.
